Friends and Supporters,

Since its inception in 1974, the National Conference of Black Mayors, Inc. (NCBM) has provided technical and management assistance, articulating national public policy positions of its membership and forging innovative programs and partnerships to address the pressing needs and concerns of our communities.  For the past 34 years, NCBM has networked effectively with national organizations, public officials and leaders in the private sector in forging collective approaches to national issues of mutual concern.

Today, we represent over 650 mayors in some of the country’s largest, as well as moderate and small urban and rural communities, who collectively serve more than 48 million people. NCBM serves as a major catalyst for positive change not only in the communities of its membership, but ultimately affecting the nation, with an expanding international presence.

The National Conference of Black Mayors will celebrate its 35th anniversary on June 28th this year, with a special commemoration during our Annual Convention, which will be hosted in the City of Las Vegas, Nevada October 21-25.  I invite you to support this milestone of our work by becoming a sponsor of NCBM’s 35th Annual Convention, themed “Working Together Works.”

Each year during our annual convention, NCBM brings together mayors and municipal leaders, including several international delegations, state and federal officials, as well as members of the public and private sectors for the purpose of networking and obtaining information on the latest policies and strategies for municipal government. The weeklong event will include informative workshop modules, influential training sessions, dynamic forums and roundtable discussions around vital issues affecting the functioning of local government. Exciting social events, with special appearances by some of America’s most well known leaders and personalities, round out the week’s activities.

Your commitment as a financial partner of our organization will help extend our reach and maximize the impact of our programs and service on issues that are vital and beneficial to both our membership and your corporation. Our history has taught us that we must move beyond simply executing business deals and exchanging resources in our communities. During this current time of consequence in America, it is ever more pressing that the partnerships we form create the level of synergy that can sustain our communities.

I hope you share our concern for America’s future of our cities.  Your generosity will enable us to remain on the frontlines of everyday advocacy for improving the quality of life and the development and revitalization of our communities. NCBM is a private, nonpolitical, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization. All contributions are tax deductible.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our national office at (404) 765-6444.  I look forward to partnering with you to continue to strengthen our communities and increase the capacities of local governments.

Respectfully,
Vanessa R. Williams
Executive Director
