For Children of Incarcerated Parents

 On January 16, 2004, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNS) announced an agreement with the National Conference of Black Mayors, Inc. (NCBM) committing 40 VISTA members to NCBM municipalities for three years. The VISTA members assigned to these municipalities are expected to recruit volunteers, collaborate with schools, social service providers, and the criminal justice system and secure other resources to carry out local tutoring and mentoring programs. NCBM’s VISTA program is currently active in more than 17 municipalities.
