Mayors Against Illegal Guns

mayors-against-illegal-gunsThe National Conference of Black Mayors has endorsed the national coalition of Mayors Against Illegal Guns in an effort to make America’s cities safer.  The coalition aims to encourage Mayors to recognize that there is no greater threat to public safety than the threat of illegal guns and guide their local efforts to stop the flow of illegal guns on the streets of their communities. Mayors agree to accept a greater responsibility to protect their citizens by punishing gun offenders and traffickers; holding irresponsible gun dealers accountable; fixing gaps in gun sale background checks; and demanding access to trace data that is critical to law enforcement efforts. The coalition highlights successful strategies from across the country and updates mayors on legislative efforts on the local, state and federal levels.
